Hello to you, my lovely reader.
As ever, with the advent of the summer months, I am taking a small pause from blogging. Today, it is hot and sunny in Glasgow, and everyone who can be outside, is. I realise that things may be very different tomorrow, but for now, my sense is that no one wants to be in front of a computer if they can avoid it.
I am also aware that we never stop growing, learning, challenging ourselves. These few weeks of summer can be a great opportunity to allow our minds to pause from the normal busyness of life and do a spot of reflection.
To ask ourselves questions:
…How am I? What do I need?
…What does it mean for me to pause and notice?
…What can I stop doing, even for a few weeks? What do I want to start, that is life giving and fun?
If that is you, I have a huge back catalogue of blogs on a whole range of topics to explore.
Boundaries and knowing your limits.
Perhaps this a good time to notice what you need, and to explore how affective your communication is with your Nearest-and-Dearest about your needs. More on that here.
Or maybe this is a great time to create space and look at your priorities. What do you typically say yes to that you really want to say no? More on that thorny subject here and here.
Gratitude practices.
We know what practicing gratitude is good for us. But how do we do it consistently? And what lessons have I learned about how gratitude impacts our brains that link back to my years as a physiotherapist? More on that here.
And perhaps a summer activity might be to start your own Jar of Good Things. If so, lots of lovely ideas and inspiration here.
Take time to pause.
Whatever these next weeks hold for you, lovely sunny weather or not, take time to pause. To notice and just be. Be present to yourself, and grateful for this extraordinary, ordinary life we get to lead.
